DESCRIPTION

Color: The Smoky Brown Cockroach is uniformly shining brownish black or mahogany in color. Tegmina: Both sexes have wings that extend beyond the tip of the abdomen. Habitat: In the United States, it is more common in the southern states from central Texas eastward, and has been found in heated buildings in isolated locations as far north as Iowa, Indiana, and Illinois. Comparison: This is the only uniformly dark-colored species of Periplaneta in North America. Also, it is the only Periplaneta species not known to occur in other parts of the world.
