DESCRIPTION

Carabids are common beetles. More commonly, they are black. The elytra typically have longitudinal rows of fine punctures. The hind coxae are not expanded laterally and do not meet the elytra. The head is usually narrower than the pronotum. Unlike Tiger Beetles (Family Cicindelidae), the width of the eyes is not wider than the pronotum. Also, the pronotum is narrower than the base of the elytra. The tarsal formula is 5-5-5.
