Unlike most Tiger Beetles, Omus is active at night. It resembles the gound beetles (Family Carabidae) in appearance - and also, it exudes a dark, foul-smelling liquid when disturbed. Also a predator, its mouthparts are adapted for seizing and consuming prey.
