Some Dermestids resemble
Ladybird
Beetles (Family Coccinellidae) superficially. They are usually broadly
oval and possess strongly clubbed antennae. However, Dermestid antennae fit
into grooves on the pronotum. Also, the elytra are covered with fine setae
(scales). The head fits tightly into the pronotum and is not visible in dorsal
view; but some forms may be more elongate. They are unusual structurally
as a beetle in having a median ocellus.
