Tachinids are
parasitoids of other insects, commonly attacking Lepidoptera and Coleoptera.
Female tachinids deposit their eggs directly on a host insect. Upon hatching,
first instar larvae bore directly into the body of the host and remain as
internal parasitoids. They may respire by connecting their spiracles to the
host's tracheal system. This is a very diverse family.
