Cephids may
be identified by their elongate pronotum and single foretibial spur. They
also have a very characteristic membranous area on the rear portion of the
first abdominal tergum. This area stands out as a light yellow triangle against
the black cuticle of the abdomen. Cephids tend to have a very slender, laterally
compressed appearance and are usually black in coloration with varying amounts
of lighter markings on the abdomen. A very characteristic membranous area
