Sometimes the wood of homes, cabins and other structures is selected. So, theses ants can be pests in wood or lumber. At times they may be seen wandering indoors in search of sweets, grease, or dead insects. They do not eat wood as termites do, but nesting may hollow wood out and cause considerable damage.
