This family may be distinguished from the
Chrysopidae
(with which they are most similar by the form of the venation at the front
(costal) margin of the wings. In Hemerobiidae the costal veins are forked
while in the
Chrysopidae
they are simple. Hemerobiids may additionally be distinguished from chrysopids
by their brown, as opposed to green coloration.
