Larvae of ant lions have long sickle-like jaws.
Their bodies are flattened and ovular. Legs point forward and only allow
the larvae to walk backwards. Adults are similar in overall appearance to
adult Odonata. However, their antennae are somewhat
clubbed apically. Compared with the other Neuroptera,
the antennae are relatively shorter. The abdomen is also more elongate.
