Silverfish have a low metabolism and can survive nearly a year without food.
Some species never drink water, and instead produce it metabolically. Silverfish
reproduction is also unremarkable - they produce asexually. Male spermatophores
are are released onto a substrate which the female maneuvers over. In nature,
many species live in litter or under bark. Some are subterranean. Some do
manage to make a living in arid areas. Development may take a couple of years.
There is an indeterminant number of molts.
